About Us
Our Story
Shvan.org, a frontal organisation of the Animal Welfare Community Initiative of the Community Health Mission, is an advisory body on animal welfare laws and promotes animal welfare in the country. Established in 2015 under the Community Health Mission for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the Community was founded under the leadership of Ms. Arnika Kohli, a well-known humanitarian and philanthropist. The Community ensures that animal welfare laws are diligently followed, provides grants to animal welfare organizations, and advises the Government of India on animal welfare issues. It has been at the forefront of the animal welfare movement in India for over 8 years. The Community consists of 25 members, including 6 members of Community Health Mission and (5) India Health Fund Limited, with each member serving a term of 5 years.

We envision a nation where every animal is treated with compassion and respect. By ensuring the effective implementation of animal welfare laws and promoting awareness, we strive to create a society where animals are free from unnecessary suffering.
Our Mission
At the Animal Welfare Community Initiative of Community Health Mission (AWCHM), our mission is deeply rooted in compassion, advocacy, and action for the welfare of all animals. We strive to ensure that every animal is treated with respect and care, free from unnecessary pain, suffering, or exploitation.
Our Achievements
Over the years, the AWCHM has played a critical role in promoting key reforms in animal welfare. Our work spans from sterilization programs for street animals to the regulation of performing animals, making sure that no animal faces undue suffering.
