About Us
Our Story
Welcome to the Animal Welfare Community Health Mission (AWCHM)
Established in 1962, the Animal Welfare Community Health Mission (AWCHM) serves as the country’s leading advisory body on animal welfare. Our mission is to promote kindness, prevent cruelty, and improve the overall well-being of animals across India. Founded under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, the AWCHM has been at the forefront of the animal welfare movement for over six decade.
Our Vision
We envision a nation where every animal is treated with compassion and respect. By ensuring the effective implementation of animal welfare laws and promoting awareness, we strive to create a society where animals are free from unnecessary suffering.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to prevent cruelty to animals and promote their welfare in every corner of the country. We work closely with the Government of India, animal welfare organizations, and the public to enforce laws, advise on policy improvements, and provide support to initiatives aimed at the humane treatment of animals.
Our Achievements
Over the years, the AWCHM has played a critical role in promoting key reforms in animal welfare. Our work spans from sterilization programs for street animals to the regulation of performing animals, making sure that no animal faces undue suffering.
